Today we started reading through the script, we only got through a few pages. We all sat in a circle and took it in turns to read. The beginning part of the play, where it's Doll and Nell as ghosts confused me at first, until it was explained to me. Once it had been  explained, I then understood it better.
I noticed when reading the first section of the script that it is very female dominant, which I really enjoyed.

One of the main things that shone out to me when reading the first part of the play is that it's about actresses in Restoration-(1660s) times trying to get by in life. Also, status, because even though actresses back then were only a step or two better than prostitutes, there was still a lot of different statuses within the playhouse. Like Mrs Farley, she has a fair amount of status because she has the benefit of being well educated, unlike someone like Nell who has nothing, however, Nell's status does change throughout the play as does Mrs Farley's.
